Careening downward?

Life is a roller coaster.

Really, there is no better metaphor for the ups and downs of life.

I am just wondering, though, why the downs of life are not nearly as much fun as the thrill and excitement of careening quickly down the slope of a roller coaster.  And, why the downward motion of a roller coaster is over so quickly, but sometimes the downs of life last for quite a while?!?!?!?!

  2. The downs of life are like our personal walk on the road to Emmaus.

You remember after Christ's Resurrection two disciples were walking to Emmaus. They were so distraught about their situation and about their Lord being Crucified that they took away their focus from the Risen Jesus. Even though He was walking beside Him, they did not recognise Him.

God allows the downwards moments in our lives to bring us closer to Him.

I am praying for you and your family.

    God bless.

  3. Kari,

I found that just when I thought we couldn't get any further down that roller coaster without running off the track completely, God would send us help to keep us going: just a phone call or message or something to make us feel cared about. We were still on a down part of life and yes, it seemed so very long, but it was punctuated with little bumps of hope and relief and love. Prayers for you and your family.

    God bless.
